Sapana Village Social Impact (SVSI) is an organization in Nepal that focuses on improving the living conditions and opportunities of people in the Chitwan National Park area. SVSI focuses on various themes, including education, healthcare, women's empowerment, social empowerment, and environmental conservation. The organization's approach emphasizes self-reliance, local ownership, and entrepreneurship. With a small team shouldering multiple responsibilities, SVSI initially lacked a structured fundraising approach. The team aimed to transition from a supply-driven to a more demand-driven way of operating.
The collaboration with SVSI started during the challenging circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic, which only allowed working remotely. Despite this, steps were taken to improve communication tools and support emergency relief fundraising. In the second year of collaboration, two visits to Nepal took place, focusing on addressing structural issues. This included the development of an initial fundraising plan in conjunction with comprehensive fundraising training. Emphasis was placed on specifying SVSI's plans and identifying the necessary funds, a meticulous yet essential step for creating a focused fundraising plan. This involved mapping out the roles and responsibilities of team members in fundraising and establishing agreed-upon working methods to foster better and more efficient collaboration.
SVSI has successfully drafted its first fundraising plan and strategy, and the team is currently dedicated to implementation. Himmelblau now provides remote support to SVSI through bi-monthly online meetings, focusing on discussing progress, challenges, and action plans. SVSI is in the lead and sets the agenda. Himmelblau offers guidance and assistance upon request, including the development of proposals, newsletters, brochures, and other relevant materials.
